Nandi

I can hear you asking 'what is a Nandi??' Well it is short for Nanna Di or maybe Nanna Dickson. As Craig and I already have a Nanna Dickson (our Dads Mum) we have decided to try out Nandi for our Mum and see if the name sticks. Well Nandi has gone from having no grandchildren to having 1 and a bit. The presents for baby Callum in the USA are plentiful from Nandi. I have been waiting to see how long it would be beofre Nandi could not wait any longer to spoil her newest grandbaby.

So Baby Wregg has been given a cute little cotton jumpsuit and siglet top. Nandi also sent a baby book for Leon and I to record all significant moments in. And yes the giraffe is also from Nandi!

Adventure Baby

So before we even knew we were pregnant, we were on holidays in Port Douglas. Not knowing about our special cargo, we happily went out on the Great Barrier Reef snorkelling, fresh water rapids swimming and flying around the country.

Well to keep this adrenalin baby going we went out sports fishing and 4WDing over the Easter break. Now it was probably not the smartest decision on our part to take a 4 month pregnant woman out on the continuously rolling ocean for 12 hours but we did manage to catch a massive marlin! I did not get any real pictures so have included a drawing for those that don't know what a marlin is. The one the boys caught was over 2 meters. We also had a bunch of dolphins escorting the boat and playing in the water near by. It was a good experience, I am glad I got to experience some of the joy Leon gets out of fishing. I will however not be racing back out to the ocean any time soon!

I love Daddy

So I promised people I would post a picture of the T-shirt I held up on my belly when I told Leon I was pregnant. It took him a few seconds to get what I was trying to say but then he smiled…..before a look of total panic flashed across his face!

Baby Eggs

I received my first official Easter gift this weekend (we will discount the fact that Leon has been buying Easter Eggs since they came out in the stores just after Xmas). Jeff and Sara got in early this year and gave out fun Easter gifts this weekend. As you can see in the previous blog, Leon received a toy truck filled with eggs which I preceded in eating straight away. My gift was a very cute tiny bunny bowl, spoon and cup set….I am sure they are not actually for me, I might look a little silly eating my lunch at work with my bunny spoon. I will however eat the chocolate egg…well it would be out of date by the time Baby Wregg could appreciate it!

Wregg baby getting spoiled already

That’s right, our baby is receiving gifts already. Linda came home with this very cute pair of tiny size 1 shoes….said she could just not resist!

Don't get any 'baby boy' ideas...the truck is Leons, the back is filled with Easter eggs, a gift from his brother Jeff and Sara.

Another OB appointment

We had another OB visit today.

I had to drive all the way from work at Canungra to Brisbane CBD where the OB has her offices. The drive took over an hour and I managed to get completley lost in the city! I did finally make it and had time for a quick bite to eat.

The appointment was pretty straight forward so Leon did not come all the way down from the Sunshine Coast for it. After a few questions back and forth I went into the office and was weighed and had my blood pressure taken...all normal. Actually the only weight I have put on in the past month is the few 100g of the baby...pretty good for someone eating a crappy diet!

Now for the exciting part....I got to hear the baby's heart beat again. It is not all joy, there is this 5 second moment of heart stopping fear as the doctor moves the fetal Doppler monitor around on your belly looking for the baby's heart beat. Then you hear it and you can't help but sigh with relief and smile. Funny how you can get so attached to something so quickly.

Well that is about it for now. No more tests or appointments for another month. Maybe I'll be letting you know soon that I have felt the baby move, they say about 16+ weeks and we are 14 weeks tomorrow.

13 week photos!

This is baby Wregg at 13 weeks!

We went along to the ultrasound on Thursday last week, not really knowing what to expect. Well, we were blown away by how much we could see in the 3D scans.

I was very nervous going into the scan, wondering if everything would be ok. As soon as I saw that little heart beating and the arms and legs moving all over the place I was very relieved.

Everything is going well, heart beat strong, two little arms and legs...we could even see the fingers!

We actually have video of baby Wregg moving around which I am trying to upload.

PS does anyone else think baby Wregg looks like he/she is smiling for the camera in the 3D image??

Nausea on a boat!

Maybe the foggy mist of pregnancy sickness has started to lift?? Friday was a usual terrible day with constant nausea. Leon asked me if I wanted to go out on the boat on Saturday hmmm…nausea and rocking boat…let me think about it. However I woke up feeling really positive and made it through the morning just peachy. SO out we went, just in the bay for a quick swim with Sara, Jeff and both our dogs! I was not sick once…pretty good for someone who can hardly handle driving in the car at the moment.

It has not all been wonderful since the great fishing day however I think I have started to head towards better horizons.

Soooo tired

You may have noticed that the dates I am adding these blogs don't match up with when they happened. Firstly, I wanted to wait until the 12 week mark before making it totally public about our pregnancy and second I have just been so tired I am having to play catch up.

I have been coming home from work each night and collapsing on the couch. Some nights I have been in bed by 6pm! The other thing I am having trouble with is cooking. Most nights consist of trying keep down a microwave meal!

I am praying I am one of the lucky women that hit the 12 week mark and start to feel better...I am waiting for the pregnancy glow!

First peek!

On Feb 7th, we went along for our first ultrasound. We spent the first ½ hour talking to our OB about our medical history and taking a few measurements ( I have already gained 3kg!). Then came the exciting part, we were able to see our bubble of joy for the first time. It was such a relief to see an actual baby in there, you kind of worry that it is all in your head until you see the heart beating for the first time. I think Leon and I almost bounced out of the OBs office half an hour later. We could not wait to get home and show off the first picture of little baby Wregg. Everything was normal, heartbeat 170, length from head to bottom 3.2cm and rapid little movements. I will remember that cute little almost baby next time I am visiting the toilet bowl!

Sorry no photo this time as I have not gotten around to finding someone with a scanner. It really is hard to make anything out anyway...kind of looks like a bunch of pixels and fuzzy lines.
