So what has the first 12 weeks of pregnancy been like??

The first 5 weeks went by quickly. Apart from being tired and a rapidly expanding chest, I had very little symptoms.

Week 6...ahh...everything changed. I had to start back at work on the Monday. I started feeling sick on the Sunday afternoon...really sick. I ended up spending week 6 at home in bed feeling very sorry for myself and wondering what I had done to this baby for it to hate me so much already!!

I have tried all the usual tricks, ginger, dry biscuits etc. They say after the first 12 weeks of pregnancy things should settle down...12 weeks seems so far away!

Finding Out

After a wonderful holiday in Port Douglas over the New Years break, I left Leon behind in QLD (someone has to work) and headed to Adelaide for a quick family catch up. I arrived late on the 2nd of January feeling very tired but relaxed after a great holiday with our friends Tal and Lisa.

I had very little sleep that night and got up the next day feeling very tired and...well...a little icky. My curiosity got the better of me so I went and bought a pregnancy test. Well when it came up positive I was so surprised, I stood there in disbelief.

How to tell Leon....I wanted to wait and tell him in person, not over the phone. It was 8 days until I was flying back to QLD, 8 days of hiding the biggest news I had ever had to tell my husband. Lucky I spent most that week sleeping. I managed to bluff all but one friend. Sherilyn (my friend who has 5 gorgeous children, including triplets) saw straight through my facade. It was great to have someone to talk to that first week.

When I finally made it back to Brisbane, I waited until we arrived home before I presented Leon with the cute little 'Worlds Best Dad' size 000 T-shirt. I held it over my belly and wait for him to work it out. He was excited...then scared...then excited...! It took us a few days to get used to the idea. We then started questioning the positive result. We actually went out and bought 2 more pregnancy kits and did three more tests. We really were pregnant....those kits don't lie!

We decided that since we were living with Leons Dad (while we build the house) we would have to tell him and our immediate family. Telling the family was fun, congratulations all round. We waited until my Mums birthday to tell her. At the time she had been in the USA visiting my brother, his wife Jen and their brand new little baby Callum. I new Mum would be feeling a little down about leaving her only grandchild and coming home. I gave her a wonderful reason to return to Australia with a smile.

The rest of the family and friends have found out slowly as Leon and I have gained more confidence in the pregnancy. They say the first 12 weeks are the highest risk for miscarriage so we have waited to announce it to the world until now.

A big announcement

Well I guess you have already guessed or heard the rumors.....

YES we are pregnant!!

So let's get over all the Q&A right from the start.

-We are currently a little over 12 weeks Pregnant.
-Due on the 5th September.
-Yes we were pregnant when I visited Adelaide at Xmas time; however, it was all so new that we were not sharing the news yet.
-Yes we hope to get back to Adelaide before the birth in early September. At this stage we are planning a trip down for a friends 30th on Saturday May 17th so thought Sunday May 18th might be a nice afternoon for a bit of a catch-up.
-We are still negotiating the question of if we will find out the sex of the baby.
-We are planning a trip down to Adelaide in November so you can all see our bundle of joy! Our trip is planned to coincide hopefully with a visit from my brother Craig, Jen and baby Callum.
-Yes we are super excited about it all!
